In order to avoid this pit of destruction, many companies have prioritized the word culture around the office; however, telling everyone to have positive culture is much different than working to enforce it.<\/p>\n<p>In his book,\u00a0<em>The Connection Culture,\u00a0<\/em>author\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/blakemorgan\/2018\/08\/09\/simplifying-culture-so-managers-can-actually-execute-on-it\/#14fd616b6f9e\">Michael Stallard said<\/a>, \u201cManagers are increasingly being asked to improve the culture and employee engagement but they aren\u2019t clear about what that means.\u201d Having vague values and beliefs for your organization\u2019s desired culture is not only ineffective, but it often leads to \u201cculture\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/blakemorgan\/2018\/08\/09\/simplifying-culture-so-managers-can-actually-execute-on-it\/#14fd616b6f9e\">becoming a buzzword<\/a>that few people take seriously. In order to prevent this from happening, the leaders of an organization must ensure their culture fits all of these requirements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Company\u2019s Culture Should be Simple and Actionable<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beckershospitalreview.com\/hospital-management-administration\/why-culture-is-becoming-every-business-s-biggest-buzzword.html\">Josh Bersin<\/a>, principal and founder of Bersin by Deloitte and\u00a0<em>Forbes\u00a0<\/em>contributor, said you should be able to write your culture down in a few words, and if you can\u2019t, then it\u2019s too complex for your employees to understand. If your high-level employees aren\u2019t clear on what your culture is, then it\u2019s impossible for them to enforce it on current employees and recruit candidates who fit in with it. By simplifying the culture your organization is aiming for, you will increase the adaptation of it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Employees and Your Culture Should be Compatible<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once a clear culture has been established, it\u2019s important to make sure you\u2019re bringing in candidates who mesh well with it. It\u2019s important to consider more than a potential employee\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.beckershospitalreview.com\/hospital-management-administration\/why-culture-is-becoming-every-business-s-biggest-buzzword.html\">experience and skills<\/a>, as his or her personality will also be a deciding factor of how compatible they are with your organization\u2019s culture. Additionally, in order to maintain a positive culture, organizations that are focused on creating great leaders spend\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/bersin-by-deloitte-research-shows-us-leadership-development-spending-up-again-14-percent-to-more-than-15-billion-in-2013-259213531.html\">3 times the average cost<\/a>\u00a0on leadership development courses.
